Some new cutscene art

We’re almost done with one of the boss levels! That means the story can have some kind of continuity for a change. For what seems like ages, one of the late game biomes has been stitched to the other levels with a filler cutscene assembled from scraps of storyboard sketches I drew. We can finally replace it with art that reflects the actual story.

We’re not yet certain if we’ll eventually switch to pixel art cutscenes with animation instead of digital paintings, but in the meantime it’s letting us work out the vibe, color palette, and overall feel of the game’s world. We found that pixel art can be a big commitment, so it’s a lot easier to create some regular art first before creating a “demake”!

I used ink for the background outlines this time because it’s much more fun to draw weird things with physical tools.
